The Best Thing about Being a Church Planter

Posted: December 7, 2010 in Uncategorized

Hebrews 13:21 “Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” What is the best thing about being a church planter?  Is it the things that he has provided for us?  Is it the new laptop computer that God gave?  Is it the 5,000 free prayer cards?  Is it the love offerings?  Are these the best things about being a church planter?  What about the church that is going to be built and the lives that are going to be changed in Cranberry?  Are these the best things?  Though these are a wonderful part of church planting, the best thing is found in the phrase above–“working in you.” Philippians 2:13 reiterates this same thought, “For it is God which worketh in you  both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Though Sheila and I have enjoyed seeing what God is doing around us by answering specific prayers and we look forward to what God will do through us in Cranberry, the best thing about being a church planter is what God has already done in us. This year He has changed us.  He has draw us close to Himself.  He has become real to us.  We are learning what it means to live by faith.  We are seeing God get “big” in our lives.  2010 has been a year of spiritual growth for us.  God’s great goal is to bring us to Himself and that is the best thing about being a church planter.  By the way, the other things are great too!
