The Apple of The Eye

Posted: December 30, 2010 in Uncategorized

Proverbs 7:2 says, “Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.” The word apple means “the little man of the eye or the pupil.”  I have been confused before about this statement, but the meaning is actually quite simple.  The pupil is the focusing part of the eye.  It is what gives us the ability to look at and observe the things around us.  It is a proven fact that what you look at determines where you end up. We have all ridden with someone that looks more at what is alongside the road than the road itself.  The result of this improper focus can be dangerous because you always drive toward what you look at. This same principle applies in the Christian life. Our focus determines our future. If we keep our eyes upon the Lord and His Word will arrive at the correct destination.  Looking at this world will bring about certain destruction.  Where is your focus?
