The Waters Gushed Out

Isaiah 48:21 “And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.” I love the detail of God’s Word. The Bible says that the waters flowed out of the rock, but then it adds that they gushed out. This verse describes the abundant supply of the Lord.  Where God guides he not only provides, he overwhelmingly provides. The word gush means to overflow or spew forth.  Recently the Lord allowed his blessings to gush out on our family. It was the first week of full-time deputation. For the first time in six years I did not go to the bank because there was no paycheck to deposit. We knew this time would come, but it was a little scary now that it was finally here.  We couldn’t help but wonder if God would really bless us for stepping out by faith.  Let me assure you, he has! During that first week of unemployment, God miraculously provided for us financially.  As a matter of fact, when we counted up the love offerings and love gifts that were given to us, they more than quadrupled our weekely salary! I told Sheila we should have given up our job long ago. I realize that not every week will be like that and there will be times when the blessings are not as obvious, but thank the Lord for times when he gushes his goodness to us.
